How do I pay for a bankruptcy?

  1. Cash on hand.
  2. Stop paying bills for unsecured debts that your bankruptcy will wipe out – credit cards, hospital bills, etc.
  3. Stop making payments on things you’re going to surrender or foreclose on during or after the bankruptcy – homes, extra cars, boats, etc.
  4. Gifts from friends.
  5. Borrow from friends or family.
  6. Cash in a small part of your retirement.
  7. Use your tax refund.
  8. Get a 2nd job to earn enough.
  9. Take a loan against your life insurance.
  10. Move in with someone or take a roommate to get enough money.
  11. Sell toys and property on Craigslist, garage sales, eBay.
  12. Take a close look at your expenses and cut out unnecessary or play items.
  13. Have your teenagers work to earn money for their own expenses, and save your own money.
  14. Work overtime.
  15. Have a non-working spouse take a job.
